TN-TACF Volunteer Opportunity

April 16 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

The Tennessee Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation is gearing up to plant over 1000 intermediately blight-resistant chestnuts in our seed orchard. You’re invited to join this event at Mountian Homes Community on Saturday, April 16 at 9:00 am.

If you’re interested in joining, please bring gloves, and if you have it a shovel, dibble bar, or trowel. We will also have some tools on hand for those who don’t have their own. The community will provide lunch to those who RSVP by Tuesday, April 12, and a brief presentation to give you some background on chestnut trees and make sure we get them off to a good start by planting them properly.

We will hold this event rain or shine, as the seeds are ready for their new home in the ground!

The easiest way to find Mountain Homes is to follow directions to Blackberry Farm in Walland, TN.  Mountain Homes is at the end of West Miller’s Cove road, just past Blackberry farm. There is no cell service at Mountain Homes so please reach out to coordinate your arrival ahead of time.

Please contact Jamie Van Clief at jamie.vanclief@acf.org to register for this event or for any questions.
