MD-TACF Chapter Fall Meeting
October 9 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm
The Maryland Chapter of TACF is pleased to announce that it will hold its fall meeting on Sunday, October 9th at the Fox Haven Learning Center in Jefferson, Maryland.
After two years of holding the meeting virtually, the chapter is excited to see members, friends, and the public in person once again. The meeting will begin with an update from the outgoing MD-TACF Chapter President on what the chapter has accomplished and options for breeding trees suitable for reintroduction to the wild.
Dr. John Scrivani, President of the Virginia Chapter and Chairman of the TACF Restoration Committee will present as keynote speaker. Dr. Scrivani will discuss some of the thinking and planning for reintroduction of blight-resistant American chestnuts to the forest environment.
The chapter additionally will be welcoming and introducing TACF’s new Regional Science Advisor for the Mid-Atlantic, Brianna Heath, who began earlier in August.
The Fox Haven Learning Center is a long-standing partner and hosts many mature breeding orchards. After the presentation and meeting, participants are welcome to walk up to the orchard and see the remaining trees, which include one or two of the best in the program.
