Maryland Chapter Fall Meeting

October 9 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

The Maryland Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation (MDTACF) is pleased to announce that it will hold its fall meeting on Sunday, October 9, 2022 from 2:30 – 4:30 pm at the Fox Haven Learning Center in Jefferson Maryland. (3630 Poffenberger Rd., Jefferson MD 21755)
After two years of holding our meetings virtually, we are looking forward to seeing our members, friends and members of the public who are interested in the American chestnut in person once again.
• The meeting will begin with an update from the outgoing MDTACF Chapter President on what the chapter has accomplished, and options for breeding trees suitable for reintroduction to the wild.
• We are very pleased to have Dr. John Scrivani, President of the Virginia Chapter of TCF and Chairman of the TACF Restoration Committee as our keynote speaker. Dr. Scrivani will discuss some of the thinking and planning for reintroduction of blight-resistant American chestnuts to the forest environment.
• We also look forward to introducing TACF’s new Regional Science Advisor for the Mid-Atlantic, Brianna Heath, who joined us in August.
The Fox Haven Learning Center is our long-standing partner, and hosts one of our mature breeding orchards. After the presentation portion of the meeting, we invite participants to walk up to the orchard and see the remaining trees, which include one or two of the best in our program.
Most of all, we look forward to seeing you!
Please contact us at MDTACF@outlook.com if you have any questions about the event.
