CT-TACF Chestnut Hike at the Knofla and Campbells Peaceful Valley Preserves in Tolland

June 25 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Join CT-TACF Boardmember Jack Morris on Saturday, June 25th on a 3.5 mile hike in the Knofla and Campbells Peaceful Valley Conservation Areas in Tolland Connecticut through forested areas with a high density of American Chestnut Trees.  Many of the examples are 15 to 20 feet high but located with mature hardwoods that limit sunlight.  The halfway point of the hike reaches a rock outcrop with excellent views to the west.  This is one of those areas where you will see chestnut trees, no matter where you look.  A shorter loop only in the Knofla Conservation Area is also possible.  Bring plenty of water and tick/bug protection.  Park at the Knofla Trailhead at 148 Bakos Rd., Tolland.  Rain Date – Sunday, June 26th.
