Chestnut Chat: Seeking Clarity

May 20 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

In May, we’ll be “Seeking Clarity” with an excellent panel of experts. Similar to our March 2021 edition where we wrestled with “Big Questions,” here we will explore the various aspects of both science and regulatory law to delineate areas of knowledge versus those where we have known gaps.

There are things we think we know well (multiple tools are required for disease resistance), things we don’t know (how American does a restored American chestnut population need to be?), and things we don’t know we don’t know (how can we know them?!). We will be open to questions from those who are critical of biotechnology and other modern scientific methods in order to provide open and transparent dialogue. We will also identify and address known pitfalls as well as showcase strong support for the union of traditional and novel techniques to issues of forest health and restoration.
