CC-TACF/USDA Forest Service Chestnut Seed Planting

Volunteers are needed for a chestnut planting event scheduled for Wednesday, February 1, 2023,9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Bent Creek Forest Experiment Station, 1579 Brevard Road (NC-191), Asheville, NC. Ample parking is available at the Training Center located to the left of the greenhouses where the work will occur. The work area is outdoors and includes covered workspaces. Dress in layers appropriate for the weather. Bring work gloves and wear comfortable shoes or boots. Bring a bag lunch, beverage, and snacks. Let Kathleen McKeever (kathleen.mckeever@usda.gov) or Jamie Van Clief (jamie.vanclief@acf.org) know that you plan to volunteer.  Potting of chestnut seed is the first phase of TACF’s 2023 Phytophthora root rot resistance screening trial being conducted in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service.
