The Carolinas Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation invites you to join us in planting 150 wild-type American chestnuts! These seeds have been sourced from wild-type American trees, and are a crucial step in species diversification. We will be planting these trees at the Pryor Orchard in Edneyville Township, NC on Saturday, April 15 at 9:30 am.
Location: The Pryor Orchard is located at 12 Will Hill Road, Edneyville, NC, but we suggest the following GPS Coordinates: 35.40297, -82.29308. The orchard is located off Timber Trail Road and may have limited cell signal. We recommended downloading directions prior to the workday.
If you’re interested in joining, please dress for field work and bring gloves. We plan to have all the needed tools at the orchard. The Chapter will be providing lunch to those who
RSVP by Thursday, April 13th. To RSVP, please email TACF Southern Regional Science Coordinator
Jamie Van Clief.
Before we start, we will give a brief presentation on American chestnut trees and proper planting procedures. We hope to see you there!
